ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) – The Minnesota Department of Transportation is reminding candidates and supporters that campaign signs are not allowed on highway rights of way.
As election day draws closer, the law pertains to all state, county, city and township roads and highways.
The right of way includes the driving lanes, inside and outside shoulders, ditches and sight corners at intersections.
Keep in mind that consent is also needed before signs can be placed on private property that is outside the right of way.
MnDOT will remove all unlawfully placed signs and every effort is made to temporarily store them until they can be retrieved by the owner.
