WASHINGTON, D.C. (KDAL) – Following a letter from Minnesota U-S Senator Tina Smith, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has launched an investigation into potential wrong doing regarding a spike in natural gas prices.
The big increase in prices came when extreme winter weather hit Texas and other parts of the country last week.
On the KDAL Morning Show Thursday, Senator Smith explains why families will be hard hit financially as utilities pass the costs on to consumers…
Smith provided this Minnesota example of how high the cost of natural gas has gone….
The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission also held a hearing this week sharing how costs are projected to be passed on to customers at an average of 250 dollars.
Senator Smith urges the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission not to use a timid approach to enforcement if it is determined that gas producers are violating the law.
