FAYAL TOWNSHIP, MN (KDAL) – A 43 year old man, who was paddle boarding with his juvenile daughter Tuesday evening, fell into the water at Ely Lake and was unresponsive.
According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, the victim’s daughter was able to pull her father toward the shore where some lake residents assisted and began performing CPR.
Despite the efforts of family, friends, and emergency responders, the man from Fayal Township was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neither of the parties involved were wearing life jackets.
The cause of death remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Midwest Medical Examiners Office.
Ely Lake is located in Fayal Township about five miles south of Eveleth.
