Oct 22 (Reuters) – Gilead Sciences said on Thursday it will acquire PepStar Therapeutics’ oral inflammation drug program, including an experimental bowel disease treatment, for $1.275 billion in cash.
The deal will add HCXT-2001, an experimental oral drug for inflammatory bowel disease, to Gilead’s portfolio.
The treatment acts on the IL-23 pathway, an established target for inflammatory disease therapies.
HCXT-2001 is currently in early-stage clinical testing.
